‘An Awake Heart is Like a Sky that Pours Light’ is the second work in the ‘Nur: Reflections on Light’ series, delicately weaving Hafez’s poetic verse into the geometric elements that shape this interactive work. Each word is intricately hand-embroidered in square Kufic form into the shape of an equilateral triangle. The sixteen-piece interactive work can be transformed into a multitude of geometric forms, showcasing the essence of Islamic geometry. Oscillating between positive and negative, light and dark, through colour and texture, the colourful ‘nakshi’ metallic thread reference the reflection of light through a prism.
