‘Light Within the Heart’ is an immersive installation featuring a poem of the same title by the 12th century Persian scholar Shihab al-din Suhrawardi, known as the founder of ther philosophical school of illuminationism. Created with an intricate geometric design, the words of the poem come to life as light shines through the hand-pierced paper through projection mapping. The light installation showcases the sacred geometry onto the paper, which reflects the delicately pinpricked square Kufic calligraphy onto the adjacent wall. As the words appear, a recitation of the poem by Saudi singer/songwriter simultaneously plays in the darkened room, creating an evocative immersive experience.
