‘The Path of Light’ is a kinetic hand-embroidered installation that celebrates the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUP). As Allah’s messenger, the Prophet Muhammad is considered to be our light on earth, bringing humanity to the light of truth through the revelation of the Holy Qur'ān. The installation takes the viewer through a journey, telling the story of how the good news of the Prophet Mohammed’s birth created a path of light out of the darkness, illuminating the world from east to west. The work incorporates a verse of poetry from Nahj al-Burda by poet laureate Ahmad Shawqī’s square Kufic calligraphy, which is hand-embroidered into the Islamic geometric pattern.
